Saturday and Sunday, March 14 & 15, Xinjia Yilu/New Frame 1st Routine
Master Wang will continue teaching us Xinjia Yilu/New Frame 1st Routine at the March workshop in Massachusetts! This beautiful, fun form, loosely based on the structure of Laojia Yilu, was created in the early 20th century by Chen Fa Ke, the great Chen style practitioner who was the first to leave Chen Village and show the power and effectiveness of the style to the Beijing public. He was encouraged by enthusiasts to develop a form that showed externally the result of the internal work developed by the practice of Laojia Yilu.
As always, Master Wang will be teaching slowly and in detail, making the workshop suitable for all levels. The new frame focuses on spiral rotation, the folding of the waist and chest, and the circling of the hands, with both slow and fast movements. In contrast, the old frame emphasizes slow movements with large openings and closings, focusing on foundational practice and leg strength. With the new frame, you engage your entire body more, developing greater coordination and agility, allowing you to cultivate better control over your movements, qualities that will benefit all aspects of your tai chi practice.
Whether you are a beginner, or someone who has experience with this form, you can benefit from Master Wang’s generous and particular style of teaching. We hope you will join us!
